Dr. Rick Wall, DVM, DACVSMR, CCRP, CMTPT

Veterinarian

Dr. Wall's Bio

A 1979 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Wall is the owner of Animal Clinics of The Woodlands and the Center for Veterinary Pain Management and Rehabilitation. Following an initial career in equine medicine, Dr. Wall opened Animal Clinic at Cochran’s Crossing located in The Woodlands, TX, in 1995. This was to be the first of three primary veterinary care locations that now form Animal Clinics of The Woodlands. In 2004, Dr. Wall opened the Center for Veterinary Pain Management and Rehabilitation. Dr. Wall is certified in canine rehabilitation through the University of Tennessee and is a board-certified veterinarian specialist in sports medicine and rehabilitation.

Dr. Sherrilyn Brannon, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Brannon's Bio

Dr. Sherrilyn Brannon joined our practice in November 2004. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 1988. ​After graduation, Dr. Brannon practiced small animal medicine in Massachusetts. In February 2004, she visited Houston and decided to make The Woodlands her home.

Dr. Brannon has a special interest in Gerontology. She is a diehard Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and Celtics fan. Her two cats, Eli and Esther, especially enjoy football season.

Dr. Shelley Blair, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Blair's Bio

Dr. Shelley Blair was welcomed as a vital part of The Animal Clinics of The Woodlands in June 2004. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University in 2003. Her area of veterinary interest is, in general, small animal medicine. Dr. Blair has used her compassion for animals to become a devoted and accomplished veterinarian. She and her husband spend much of their time tending to their wonderful son and their awesome daughter.

Her home is also shared with three vigorous and affectionate dogs – Lucy and Charlie. In her leisure time, Dr. Blair enjoys spending time at their lake house with friends and family.

Dr. Carrie Giordano, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Giordano's Bio

Dr. Carrie Giordano joined The Animal Clinics of The Woodlands in June 2005. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University, class of 2005. She has brought a brilliant array of experience to this practice that she has gathered in over twenty years of working in the veterinary field. Dr. Giordano’s area of interest in pain management has led her to become a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner. Her love of veterinary medicine is evident in the time and proficiency that she gives to each of her patients.

She, and her husband, Paul, spend much of their leisure time enjoying the company of their assortment of cats, parrots, box turtles, and dogs.

Dr. Rafael Castro, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Castro's Bio

Dr. Rafael Castro is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, and grew up canoeing down the river, hiking the state parks, and tubing at the lake.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Arkansas in 2017, but his interest in veterinary medicine began before that. He worked as a kennel technician at 15 years old and ultimately decided during his time at UCA that he wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Soon after, he attended and graduated from Louisiana State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2022.

During his time there, he met and married his wife, Ivy Castro, a veterinarian in The Woodlands. Together they love watching SEC football, traveling and visiting new towns, and spending time with family and friends. They have three wonderful cats, Bear, Molly, and Nora, and a loveable hound mix, Duncan.

Sharon Hessong

Veterinary Technician

Sharon Hessong's Bio

Sharon was born and raised in Houston and has been in the veterinary profession for more than 30 years. She has worked here at The Animal Clinics of The Woodlands and Center for Veterinary Pain Management for the last 16 years. Each patient is special to her, and she treats each patient as if they were her own. Sharon’s professional interests include emergency medicine and assisting in the rehabilitation of animals. Sharon has her Certified Veterinary Assistant Level III certificate and is working toward her Licensed Veterinary Technician degree. Outside of work, Sharon enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Scott and her two dogs, a dachshund named Miller and a lab/beagle mix named Harley. She also enjoys going to the beach, fishing, and watching baseball.

Kari Koudelka LVT, CCRP, VTS-(physical rehabilitation)

Veterinary Technician (2004 – Present)

Kari Koudelka's Bio

Kari Koudelka graduated with her AAS degree in Veterinary Technology from Tomball College in 2004. Following graduation, Kari began working in rehabilitation for Dr. Richard Wall. Since that time, she has been director of rehabilitation and the head rehabilitation technician for our specialty clinic, Center for Veterinary Pain Management and Rehabilitation, here in The Woodlands, Texas. She achieved her certification as a certified canine rehabilitation practitioner (CCRP) through the University of Tennessee’s Canine Rehabilitation program in 2005. In 2007, she completed courses in Traditional Chinese Medicine for Veterinary Technicians at the Chi Institute in Florida. Kari has also been involved with the creation of a VTS—or Veterinary Technician Specialty—in physical rehabilitation and served on the organizing committee where she served as president, then as executive director of the Academy of Physical Rehabilitation Veterinary Technicians (APRVT). In March 2017, She was honored as the 2017 Veterinary Technician of the Year by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA).
When Kari is not focusing her talents and expertise in the field of veterinary sports medicine and rehabilitation, she enjoys working out, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends. Most importantly, she enjoys spending downtime with her two dachshunds, Alfie and Francisco, and her terrier mix, Kip.

Megan Carlson LVT, CCRP (pending)

Veterinary Technician

Megan Carlson's Bio

Megan is a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and has been with the Animal Clinics of The Woodlands since 2014. She graduated and received her AAS degree from the Lonestar Veterinary Technology Program. In 2011, Megan graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) Megan is currently taking online courses with the University of Tennessee to become a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP). She has enjoyed working closely with Dr. Wall and Kari at the Center for Pain Management and Rehabilitation Center and is passionate about educating clients on the overall health of their pets. In Megan’s personal time, she loves hiking and camping with her husband and their two spoiled pups, Charles and Buddy. When they are not being active, she enjoys cuddling up with her sweet cat Jovie.
